This is a wonderful notion. It’s extremely easy to be friends and be around for someone when times are good and everyone is feeling happy. Too often we think that there is some certain quantity of time someone has to spend with us to label them as a friend.
The way I see it, if someone is there for me in my darkest moments, to pick me up when I need it – I don’t care how long I’ve known them – that is a friend.
The coolest thing about PTSD United is that I don’t “know” anyone on the site and I consider everyone in the community a friend. They are there for me, whether it’s them sharing their stories and confiding in me or them just listening to what I have to say, or bumping one of my posts. For that I am truly grateful – what a wonderful group of people that I call friends – and it’s growing!
